The mission of Paddle River Golf and Country Club is to serve our Community and Surrounding Areas by providing golfers of all ages and levels, opportunities for outdoor physical and social activities, in a welcoming and professional manner, at a reasonable cost. This lovely 9 hole golf course is operated by a Board of Directors consisting of volunteers who oversee the operation of the course. We serve all age groups with seniors making up the majority of our membership; we also have an active youth group.  We are situated at the south end of town, on the highway leading into Barrhead. Operating the golf course is at a huge cost with staffing, equipment, and maintenance being our biggest expenses. We must keep the course looking inviting to have the public come in to enjoy our facilities. It is Kitten season and our foster cat Persephone was found to be pregnant late in her pregnancy. But we also found a massive hernia putting pressure on her lungs. We were very worried she would have severe difficulty breathing, especially if she went into labour! After many consultations with vets and specialists on how best to save mom and babies. We decided on an urgent c section to deliver the babies as close to full term as possible and repair the hernia immediately.  Persephone is a strong mama and those kittens had a different plan - she went into labour 1 hour before her surgery was scheduled! She was a rockstar and delivered 3 healthy and strong kittens and 1 still born under the supervision of Guardian emergency vet. She was discharged home to be monitored but. that evening took a turn for the worst. She required emergency surgery as her hernia split open twice its original size! After surgery she had complications too, fever and lack of appetite required further monitoring to make sure she was strong enough to take care of herself and 3 new borns. She has been at Guardian emergency vet for several days between the consults, births, surgeries and post op complications.  Rescue is never easy and our vets are phenomenal in helping us and go above and beyond but we cannot say no to medical emergencies and medical care! These animals need our help and we need yours to keep them healthy and thriving. Persephone and her crew are just 4 of our foster animals and the vet bills keep mounting. NASAP will always provide the best medical care and ensuring all medical conditions are treated to the best of our vets abilities. We strive for the best quality of life and full vet care is essential to that. Thank you for your support to ensure every animal has the best life possible!!

It's 50/50 time! Like most things, fundraising looks different this year. Normally we would be selling 50/50 tickets at our school events like dances and concerts but this year we are taking our draw ONLINE! We are very excited to offer this fundraiser virtually this year - so be sure to share online via social media and email with your friends and family! We are currently fundraising for 20 new Chromebooks for the grade 2 and 3 classrooms, as well as 10 new iPads for the kinder and grade 1 classrooms. We were able to purchase 40 new Chromebooks earlier in February as a result of all your support - THANK YOU SO MUCH! But we need to keep going to finish replacing the other older units whose functionality is failing. This year's 50/50 is a little different than a typical 50/50. The winning ticket will win a minimum GUARANTEED amount of $500 or 50% of the total tickets sales - whichever is GREATER (the maximum will be $1250). So lets try to sell out to get that pot up! The winning ticket will be drawn in person by the WRPS president and treasurer on March 16, 2021 at 3pm at the school. Winner will be announced at St. Patricks Day online Dance! Please note that only Alberta residents who are age 18 and over are eligible to purchase tickets. We thank you so much for your support!

Special Olympics Alberta - Calgary has been providing sport programs to individuals with an intellectual disability in Calgary for over 39 years. The programs enrich their lives and help them develop skills not just in sport, but in their everyday life.  The COVID pandemic has drastically affected our organization, the programs we offer and our fundraising to continue to provide our members with ways to stay connected together, and engaged in their physical and mental well being.  We know these hard times have affected us all, but if you are able to support the Special Olympics movement, we would thank you for doing so. The funds raised will go towards our programming.  Thank you for being part of making a difference in the lives of our athletes.

Boot Scootin Boogie Dance Club is incorporated as a Not for Profit under the Society Act. I started our Society 5 years ago this March. I am known for being a dynamic lady with a gigantic heart that shows in my passion for dance, live music and my Community.  Although Boot Scootin Boogie is thought to be a Bar, it is not. In fact it is a family friendly venue where for all ages to learn dance and participate in special events of various kinds hosted by a variety of Community members, including Boot Scootin’ Boogie Dance Club. It is a Community Recreation Facility and is available for anyone to rent as well! We support Live Music as one of our namesakes and in honour of the Venue we rent having been the BEST LIVE ENTERTAINMENT VENUE in Alberta for 31 years! COVID has had a negative impact on many businesses and families. We have felt that hit also. Boots doors closed in March 14th, opened on Sept. 25 at 1/4 capacity and only 2-3 days of the week, only to close again Nov. 13th due to COVID mandates.  The icing on the cake is that in October a small fire by a third party, who has since been ordered to not return to the premises, closed our kitchen, the only source of income we could have had during COVID. The expenses of re-opening and having to re-ceritfy the kitchen with no income has put additional pressure on this Not for Profit. Unfortunately the commercial stove was not salvageable and now we also have to replace that.  In spite of the fire and COVID shut downs, we know there are others in greater need so with the help of others we have decided to help our Community by creating our very own Lunch Kitchen called, “Let's Eat.” It is a Lunch Kitchen providing free meals to those in need. We are starting on Saturdays only but plan to expand this to daily as soon as donations and preparedness permit. If you have been hit hard by COVID, as so many have, we invite you down to join us to donate time, food items or monetary means.  With schools closing due to covid many kids that had free meals through the school are left out. We are gravely concerned about this! We are stepping up and they can get the meal at Boot Scootin Boogie every Saturday for now but hopefully soon it will be daily. Our ultimate goal is to have it daily but to do that we need funds to replace the stove and to help supplement the food donation. Your help is appreciated. Anything from $5 to $500 helps greatly!
